gregory crewdson.

i went to the rudolfinum galerie this week. they had several different series by gregory crewdson. large prints in a maze of long rooms with hardwood floors. one of his series, with famous faces, that was published a few years ago in the new york times magazine was there. just the magnitude of the production of his images - sometimes using up to 150 crew members is amazing.

for me, many series depicted american suburban life in chaos and loneliness - uprooting flowers, standing with the car door open on an empty street in the rain. photographs like film stills echoing eerie emotions of feeling trapped and confused, yet conveyed beautifully with exact detail and color. oh the inspiration of vastness of his work…
