robert frank @ national gallery.
I always look for an old copy of “The Americans” in any used bookstore. Haven’t found one yet. But this exhibit is amazing – spread throughout several rooms, the last three rooms housing his 83 images chosen for the book. Kerouac’s introduction is perfectly in sync with Frank’s images. Documenting the 1950s as Frank did presents us slivers of time. His style has been admired and imitated with contemporary documentary photographers.
